How I got 1k+ leads with 1 single LinkedIn post for FREE [256k views]

In this guide, I'll share a real example how I used GPT to create a lead magnet and distributed it on LinkedIn so it went viral!

One LinkedIn post gave us 1k+ inbound leads for FREE.

It was fully organic.

You can say: “I’m lucky”…

… and you’ll be right, but this growth hack works again and again.

I’ve tested it with several target audiences & verticals, so I’m sure that everyone can use the same approach and get great (probably not similar, but still great) results!

So I’ve decided to share a step-by-step process of how I did this (and you can do the same).

I’ve mapped the whole process with valuable links in this Miro board so if you want to get access to this flow & also a bonus growth hack on how to automate the whole flow → Steal it from here!

Let’s go!

Start with creating a Lead Magnet

The main secret of this strategy is - we need to create something valuable to share it with the audience and in exchange get emails & nurture them into leads.

But, let’s start from the very beginning “What is a lead magnet???”. Google + GPT says that it’s:

A lead magnet is a marketing tool used to generate leads by offering valuable content or incentives in exchange for a prospect's contact information. These are designed to attract potential customers and initiate the process of converting them into paying clients. Lead magnets can take various forms, including: Ebooks, Checklists, etc

Google + GPT

Everyone knows it, but the real question is:

How to make a Lead Magnet? So it’s both valuable & has a potential to be viral???

It’s 39-seconds video that actually explains how your Lead Magnet should look like:

If you don’t have 39 seconds to watch the video, I’ll explain it here 😆

It’s a FREE/Low-price Ebook/Guide/Tool that solves a part of the problems that your target audience has. So the value of such a Lead Magnet is always much higher than the price you ask for it.

Again, it might be anything, that will make a life of your target audience much easier, for example:

Ebooks, templates, Google Sheet formulas and so on.

The main rule here → it should actually help people.

The process of idea generation is pretty simple: Understand your TA’s process and pain points → find a simple & low-price solution → convert it into an actionable tool/document:

A really important this here → you should get at least something in exchange for this lead magnet. So always ask for the email (at least).

Easier said than done, right?

No.

If you don’t know how to create a valuable Lead Magnet for your audience → use AI for this. Here is how I did it 👇️

How GPT has created a Lead Magnet for me

I know the cold outbound process. Of course it’s more complicated with personalisation, warming up, CRM integration, etc, but if we go simple, the process looks like this:

  1. Know your ICP

  2. Find relevant people

  3. Enrich the list

  4. Create a sequence of messages

  5. Follow-up strategy

Salespeople have a lot of troubles on each stage, but I decided to focus on a specific one - Data Enrichment.

Why? Because it requires some tech knowledge to easily solve this problem, and this is where GPT + I can help with a lead magnet.

So data salespeople usually need?

  1. Email

  2. LinkedIn

But what if they miss something? It’s a problem.

So I’ve decided to make a simple Google Sheet formula, that find LinkedIn profiles based on emails (if any) + First & Last name of a person:

But again, I’m not a genius when it comes to writing code or little scripts. But GPT is. So I’ve simply asked GPT to create me such a script:

And it did it for me:

Now, it’s time to convert this into a guide/Ebook, in our case we just made a Notion file:

And of course, don’t forget to gate this content with a form:

So at the end, we have an actionable document that solves a specific part of my TA’s process and to get access to it, people just need to leave their email.

Thanks a lot Natalie for helping me with this ❤️

Now it’s time to get FREE traffic on it!

How to distribute it on LinkedIn

Ok, you have a lead magnet, now there is a question:

“How to start getting leads with this?”

My answer: share it on LinkedIn.

But don’t just send a link, it won’t work. Since LinkedIn (as any other social media platform) do NOT like when people leave the platform and do like when people stay on LinkedIn and engage with the content → sharing a direct link will totally kill your post reach.

For example, this is my post with a direct link 😥 :

What to do instead?

Let me step back a bit here. How LinkedIn makes money? 💵

LinkedIn sells ads.

That means, they need more people to stay on a platform & scroll the newsfeed more (so more people will see ads, more will click) →

→ There are a lot of active users on LinkedIn, but at the same time a small amount of good/valuable posts →

→ So to make make more people stay on the platform they need to find & push good/valuable posts.

But how does LinkedIn understand whether the post is good/valuable or not?

The answer is - engagement.

The more people engaged with your posts (liked, commented, etc) the better this post from the LinkedIn’s POV.

So here is trick, that can let you go viral - do a giveaway post, where you ask people to comment, so you can DM them your lead magnet.

So here you reach 2 goals:

  1. More people engage with the post → LinkedIn will boost this post → even more people will see this post

  2. People can’t get this lead magnet right away → they need to make a simple action → they value this piece of content more (compering to when they get it by the link right away)

After it, just send the link to everyone who commented via DMs:

If there are too many people who commented, so you can’t handle it (it happened to me) → update the post with the direct link:

Results [in numbers]

Let’s dive deeper into the number (I know everyone loves seeing the real impact & metrics and not just talks):

Number of post views = 256k views

Number of people who commented = 1482

Who were they:

Relevant locations.

Relevant size.

Relevant industries

Number of people who actually visited the lead magnet = 5k+

Number of people who left their email = 3.5k+

Next steps (Email nurturing & Content repurposing)

The next steps are pretty simple:

  1. Distribute this lead magnet again

Yes, if it went viral, it can go viral one more time. Change the text for your post and do a second round of distribution.

For example, I’ve created a video with this lead magnet:

  1. Nurture everyone who left their email

Try to convert these people by sending them an email or LinkedIn outreach campaign.
